This High Output Ignition Coil is an inductive smart coil capable of producing extremely high spark energy making it ideal for many high horsepower applications, particularly those running high boost, high rpm, high compression, or nitrous injected applications. The coil near plug form factor allows it to be mounted on the valve cover(s) or remotely mounted away from the cylinder head to promote lower operating temperatures of the coil, improving longevity and performance. This coil is suited for a wide variety of applications, ranging from daily driven applications through 3500+ horsepower blown alcohol motors. It is the ideal combination of high spark energy and long spark duration.
Since it's a smart coil with a 19 amp IGBT ignitor built in that can be driven with a 5 volt logic level output, no external ignitor is required. When installing these high output coils, high quality wiring and proper wiring logic is required to handle the massive output of these coils. The center pin must be grounded to the cylinder head. The coil will not supply full power if it is not grounded to the cylinder head. The coil will overheat if operated at excessive duty cycles for prolonged periods. Do not operate this coil at a duty cycle greater than 40%.
These coils each deliver over 100mJ of spark energy and a minimum of 40,000 Volts which is as much as most CDI type systems without the need for a CDI module. However, they provide this high output in conjunction with a very long spark duration at full energy, unlike CDI systems and multiple spark systems which fire off small spark events before & after the main burst of spark.
The IGN-1A coils are shock and weatherproof allowing them to be mounted wherever you prefer. These coils cost less than aftermarket LS coils and deliver enhanced performance and were designed for a mass production application where reliability is paramount.
