The Stinger Performance Plug-in Megasquirt 3 Powered Sequential ECU with Shift/Trans control (PiMPxshift) engine & transmission control unit is the most user-friendly and capable plug and play option available for Ford EEC-IV equipped vehicles. It uses the latest MS3 firmware. Plug and play means you remove the stock ECU, plug in the PiMPxshift, move a few pins in the harness (certain applications only) run a vacuum/boost line from the PIMPxshift to the engine, follow the basic setup steps outlined in detail in the supplied startup guide, wire in a wideband o2 meter (3 wires), and it's ready to start up and begin tuning. Note that the PiMPxshift doesn't require the typical "mass-air swap" wiring changes like you do to run a factory Mass-Air ECU in a Speed Density application.
Not only does it allow you to remove the factory air meter but it also features Tune Analyze Live which is an auto tuning capability built into the tuning software. This powerful feature will tune the fuel table on it's own while you do nothing but drive around under varying conditions. This allows the end user to tune the idle and cruising portion of the fuel map to "better than stock" often in less than 30 minutes. Additionally, the PiMPxshift comes with a base tune featuring dyno proven and safe timing maps that should get the engine started and ready to tune to your particular setup.
Based on Megasquirt 3 technology, the PiMPxshift is designed to run the ignition system stock to your vehicle by default. Many different Ford ignition systems are supported including TFI, DIS, EDIS, CDI (MSD style ignition boxes), and when using the Internal Expansion Port it wil support the use of Individual Coil Packs with a Crank & Cam Trigger or our Cam Angle Sensor (CAS) kit and our coil on plug harness kit for using LS or IGN-1A coils. For non-stock ignition systems or fueling strategies, additional wiring modifications or additions may be required.
The PiMPxshift was designed to work in any EEC-IV (OBD-1) Ford vehicle (~83-95) with AOD-E, 4R70W, or E4OD transmissions, though it hasn't been tested in all possible applications. If your application isn't listed below, feel free to enquire about using this ECU for your 89-95 Ford EFI application as it will most likely work, we just haven't had our hands on one to be able to call it "verified". The tested and verified working applications are listed below.

Transmission Control Features:
The transmission control portion of the tuning system gives laptop tunable electronic control over shift points, converter lockup and line pressure for Ford AOD-E, 4R70W, and E4OD transmissions. The full feature set is difficult to explain in list form but the bottom line is it controls all aspects of transmission operation so everything that the transmission does can be tuned/adjusted to your preferred operation. The basic features are:

All of the software and documentation needed to get you up and running comes on a 1GB USB Flash Drive. That way you don't need wireless internet to access these items. A 20+ page startup guide covers every detail to get you up and running including PiMPxshift installation, software setup, and hardware configuration. The PiMPxshift section of our Tech Forum is available to cover any questions you may have that aren't covered in the startup guide.
Note that all PiMPxshift ECU's are built exactly the same from a hardware standpoint. The end user can configure the PiMPxshift to work with the vehicles/engines listed above without needing to send the unit back for upgrading or modification. This means you can use it in the original application. Then if you purchase another 89-95 Ford down the road, you can re-configure it to work in the new car without having to send it back to us for modification. This is a feature that is exclusive to the PiMPxshift and not available elsewhere.
Also note that the PiMPxshift comes with all features built-in. No need to pay for each feature or send it back to upgrade to additional features (unless they are uncommon advanced features that are not listed above). Some features do require some external hardware (nitrous solenoids, boost solenoid, flex fuel sensor, water injection pump, switches or relays, solid state relays, etc.). Checkout Process - What the Options menu below with different prices means:
-Software License is required for anyone who doesn't already have a TunerStudio License from another project. The License unlocks advanced features like VE Live Auto Tune and such.
-No License is only for people who already have a licensed/registered version of the TunerStudio software from a previous project and therefore don't need another one.
-USB is the default method for connecting to the laptop. This requires removing the factory ECU hanger and drilling a hole or cutting a notch in it for some applications (like F-Series trucks) so the cable can plug into the ECU since the USB port is on the side of the ECU.
-Expansion Port Serial is an alternative method if you don't want to modify the hanger, or if your laptop has a 9 pin serial port that you want to use instead of USB. This connects to the expansion port in the ECU and exits out the back (as shown in the 3rd image), opposite of where the engine harness connects. This option also allows you to connect wirelessly if you connect a bluetooth or wi-fi adapter to the serial port (email for details).
-Expansion Port Serial With USB Adapter is an alternative method if you don't want to modify the hanger but want to retain USB connectivity because your laptop doesn't have a 9 pin serial port. This connects to the expansion port in the ECU and exits out the back (as shown in the 3rd image), opposite of where the engine harness connects.
-All we actually need here is the intake & exhaust duration @.050". For non-custom cams you can just enter the cam number and we can look up this info if you don't have it. For custom cams you'll need to provide the duration @.050". If you have no way or knowing, just say "Mid Cam".
