This CNC machined billet aluminum zero balance 157-tooth small-block Ford flywheel with a 2.3 crank bolt pattern is custom made by S.P.E.C Clutches and Flywheels. This is NOT just a 5.0 flywheel with 2.3 crank bolt holes drilled in it, the center index hole that slides over the crank is also smaller so it fits the 2.3 crank. Simply re-drilling a V8 flywheel with the V8 sized center hole is VERY dangerous as it puts the entire load on the bolts so we don't do that here, this piece is custom made so it is as safe as any other properly designed flywheel. It is SFI certified and made from 6061 T6 aluminum for ultimate strength and minimal weight. The 1/4" thick friction plate is machined from 1050 high carbon alloy, for incredible durability with any friction disc material, even iron. The plates are secured to the body by aerospace fasteners which were chosen for their exceptional strength and corrosion resistance.
When used in conjunction with a SBF to 2.3 adapter plate and V8 transmission/bellhousing with the input shaft machined to 2.3 specs, or 2.3 transmission with V8 bellhousing, it allows you to run a larger small block ford 10.5" clutch on a 2.3 engine. Also requires V8 clutch fork, pivot ball, throwout bearing, clutch cable, and offset block dowels to allow you to fine tune the centerline of the assembly.
Stock 2.3 steel flywheel weighs 21 pounds. This aluminum flywheel is only 11.5 pounds. That's a 45% reduction in rotating mass!
